Saltwater is the comfort of home in an all wool,  3 ply, sport weight yarn.

Whidbey Island, where this yarn was made, is surrounded by the salty waters of the Puget Sound. Standing on the beach closest to our home I can see the shores of the Olympic Penninsula stretching up from the south. And reaching down from the north is Vancouver Island, almost completing the embrace, but leaving a gap between the two arms of land where the Salish Sea carries our tides directly out to the Pacific Ocean. The comfort of home, for us, feels like a walk on the beach, the familiar spray of saltwater carried on a cold wind, all the while snuggly wrapped in soft, handknit wool.

The yarn is wonderful! And the color is so earthy and exactly what I was hoping it would be. :)

Such a wonderful wool

Working on a shawl with Saltwater and some Spincycle DITW. At a fiber festival, they helped me find a complementary shade of Saltwater and it's turning out gorgeous. Such a pleasure to work with, smooth, doesn't split, and is soft and non-itchy.

Great yarn!

First impression — the color! Beautiful, saturated color with just enough variation to add depth and still read as a solid color. Knitting with it is wonderful. I was looking for a gauge of 22sts/4”, so I didn’t really test it’s limits, but it makes a great fabric at 21 to 24 sts/4”. The washed swatch is soft but sturdy; not at all rustic. Could make a great everyday sweater that gets a lot of wear and lasts. I can’t wait to have a sweater out of this yarn. The colors are all so beautiful, I could easily find myself with multiple sweaters in my closet.
