It is our immeasurable pleasure to announce a new collaboration between Abundant Earth Fiber and Skagit Woolen Works to continue the creation of Wanderlust yarn and roving. With their new Davis and Furber card up and running, the fine team at SWW are now adding their skills and talents to this regionally raised and milled product. It is an honor to share our love of wool with our local community.

Watch for a re-launching of this product in Spring 2023!

Wanderlust is a 2-ply sport weight yarn that is sustainably raised and milled entirely on Whidbey Island. The softness of this wool is comfortable next to skin and, because of the long staple length of each hand skirted fleece, it also has the integrity to be hard wearing and long lasting. Minimally processed yarn such as this has an authenticity that can be felt. We hope the story each skein tells is about the profound love for land and sheep shared by the two families who made it.

Just a stone's throw from our Mill on the southeastern shores of Whidbey Island, there is a flock of East Friesian sheep turning Pacific Northwest soil, sunshine, and seaside air into Island Brebis, Feta, and Blue Ewe cheese. In addition to high quality meat and dairy products, Glendale Shepherd is beloved for their sustainable farming practices. With diligence and creativity they tirelessly nurture land, flock, family and community.

It is an abundant pleasure to spin the wool from these sheep. In fact, we have been washing, dyeing and carding this wool for handspinners and needle felters for years. We’ve called it our Signature Blend roving, and it has always been my dream to take it all the way to yarn. Now, finally, fresh off the spinners, we hope this new yarn is the first of many more skeins to come from this wool.

Busy hands free the mind to wander. Enjoy!

    Wonderful product!

I'm loving the texture of the Wanderlust yarn. Slightly sticky from natural lanolin (not a bad thing in my opinion as a lifelong knitter). The colour is gorgeous too. I'll definitely be trying other colours in the future.

    lovely Wanderlust yarn

I have been purchasing yarn from Abundant Earth Fiber for some time and am always delighted when I receive my new yarn. I recently ordered 3 skeins of Wanderlust. The yarn is so soft and such a light and lovely weight. The colors are rich but also muted and quite gorgeous and I cannot wait to start knitting! I LOVE this yarn!
