My team and I have recently been immersed in shock, grief, and also love. Our entire inventory was stolen from a hotel parking lot during our drive down to Stitches West. We had a trailer hitched to our vehicle when we went to bed, and when we walked outside in the morning the trailer was gone. We've filed all the reports, done all we can do. There is a chance it will be recovered if the thieves aren't also discerning knitters. No one was harmed. We have each other and we have our creativity. We made everything that was lost and we can make it again.
The full impact of losing all our inventory has not yet been measured, but the outpouring of support makes it clear that love is, in fact, greater than loss - no matter what the loss turns out to be. Alan and I have known loss before, we have known hard work and perseverance, but we have never known the force of such generosity from a community. In addition to literally saving our business, you reassure me of who I am as a spinner and why I do what I do. It is love - for our farms, the land and the animals, it's love for wool, for craft, and for all the busy creative hands who appreciate the work we do and make it possible to share. Thank you so much for just being with us right now.
